GETTING CLOSER TO AMERICAN FOOTBALL

A different kind of football. With a different ball. And different rules. But the same goal: to learn and enjoy team sports
Several U10 and U12 squads from the Valencia CF Academy enjoyed a special training session at the Ciutat Esportiva, hosted by the Chicago Bears, a legendary NFL team from the United States. The Bears’ coaching staff led a series of fun, educational drills as part of their Mini Monsters program, introducing young players to the basics of American football while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
“We’re here to introduce American football to the kids of Valencia through a program that not only teaches them sport-specific skills but also encourages them to maintain a healthy lifestyle — something they already practice at Valencia CF,” explained Gustavo Silva, Director of Youth Football for the Chicago Bears. “I think they really had fun.”

And fun they had. Nearly 100 young players took part in this unique experience, which forms part of the Academia360 program — an initiative designed to expose Valencia CF Academy players to other sports that can help develop transferable skills. In recent seasons, participants have also tried their hand at judo, hockey, and Pilates, among others.
In addition to drills and games, the young ‘Murciélagos’ had the chance to meet Tremaine Edmunds, team captain of the Chicago Bears, who shared some inspiring words with them.

“I’m happy to see you all having fun here,” said Edmunds. “Keep enjoying these early years of training because you won’t get them back. I remember being your age and how much I loved playing. So keep having fun.”

This event also reflects the growing partnership between Valencia CF and Wasserman, focused on innovative content and activations in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada — the three host nations of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
